生々しいサンプル、豊かな管弦楽器のアレンジ、バイリンガルラップ、綿密な即興ーーこれら全てがアーロン・チューライの独特な作曲アプローチと組み合わされるのがこのアルバム"Raw Denshi"。著名なピアニストでありながら、東京でリスペクトされるビートメイカーとして活動するチューライの新作は、複雑な音世界と構成を創り上げ、日本の音楽の最前線で活動するMCやボーカリストをフィーチャーする。オーストラリアと日本の最高レベルで演奏するジャズメンの音がSP-404やMPCを使ってJ Dilla風にチョップされたものとチューライのピアニストと作曲家としての技術を加えたり、東京とメルボルンの間に存在する音楽的繋がりに光を照らしたりすることで、このアルバムは様々な形でチューライの二元性を現している。Raw Denshiは人間と機械、英語と日本語、ヒップホップとジャズの対照と協調の絶妙なバランスを保っている。

Raw Denshi is a combination of dirty samples, lush horn and string orchestration, bilingual raps and complex improvisation all woven together into Aaron Choulai's distinct approach to composition. Being both an award-winning pianist and a prominent beat maker in Japanese hip hop, Choulai creates a complex world of sound and structure featuring some of Japan's most popular MC's and vocalists. This album deals with Choulai's duality in a number of ways. It features some of Australia and Japan's most respected improvisers being chopped in SP-404's and MPC's using techniques reminiscent of J Dilla, while also highlighting his skills as a pianist and putting a spotlight on the existing musical connection between the two cities of Melbourne and Tokyo. Raw Denshi is a perfect balance of man vs. machine, English vs. Japanese and hip hop vs. jazz. This is definitely an album that will make all the people in the club stroke their chins and furrow their brows.
